we got a new art project today at school, time till february.|
theme (or the one theme i choose) TIME.
and I am obsessed with the idea to do an illustrated book titled "a day in eternity/ ein tag in der ewigkeit"
of an immortal unicorn.
a young girl meets an old man, that suffers of great pain and asks for bed and food overnight. Overnight he dies.
shocked by the fact of death the girl runds away from home and searches for a way to evade death.
It meets an old man with a beard and eyes that seem to be on fire. the old man warns the girl but tells her that he can provide her with eternal life.
She agrees and he changes her into a Unicorn:
she strolls through the world , meets alot of new animals, but nearly all (xept a turle) die, before she can do more than exchange a few words. she wanders off, through fast forward time, watches as buildings rise and fall again, how the grass changes through seasons every time she sets a hoof and walks.
People see her, a girl screams out in delight, runds towards her only to die as an old woman at her feet.
In horror she rans away, meets the turtle that greets her with "wahrlich, du bist immer noch da/truly, you are still here" and then crumbles into dust.
she wanders off, as new civilsations are built and destroyed, she tries to tell them, only to see that as soon as she speaks the civilisation is dust on the ground.
time moves faster, mountains rise just to be destroyed by the elements again and the unicorn gets tired, and sad. there is noone there, noone lives as long as she does, everything disappears the moment it appears.
The unicorn gets very sad, she cries. as the first teardrop touches the ground a child approaches her.
"why are you crying".
"I have asked for eternal life hoping to find happiness in it, not to fear an end. but I never expected this sadness, to be alone. everything changes so fast, how many years have past? how old am I now?"
"you havent aged but a day, you are as beautiful as youth."
"But look at my eyes, cant you see the grief? I've seen so much, I havent been able to help, everlasting repetition of life and death, and within it all the same mistakes,, and at the end I am left behind, again and again... why are you still here?"
the chiild smiles and its eyes flash as if on fire.
"I am the phoenix child. I've always been here. I've seen it all, I've died and been reborn many times since I gifted you with eternal life, seven thousand years ago. I came to see how you are after your first day in eternity."
the unicorn rears up with foam in it mouth "take it away, remove this curse from me, please, please let me die"
"you begged me for this, I cannot remove your life, you forget, you are immortal"
"please, you cannot leave me like this ... take me home, take me to my family, I'll give you my eternety for a day back home..."
"fine, lie down, close your eyes and sleep"
she does so, and awakens back home on the field because someone is poking her. She finds it to be the old man that died at their house. She brings him in, but this time she does not fear his age and his pain, aswell his near death beeing. She sits at his bed and he tells her he knows that he will die. She asks him to tell her about his past, and he does. With the memories his pain fades. As the last candles burn down the man falls asleep peacefully. The girl goes out and watches as the sun rises behind the forrest.
made up this afternoon during art class.
will be fully color illustrated, hopefully. now only to persuade my abrahee, abstracte loving teachers to BLOODY LET ME DO THIS! *snort*
